The resolution process is an important part of the SSCCC governance 

The Student Senate for California Community Colleges is a nonprofit organization that is guided by its membership -- Delegates from each of the 116 California Community College student body associations. Students from across the state bring resolutions to the annual General Assembly for consideration. 

The resolutions passed by the Delegate Assembly guide the vision and priorities of the SSCCC. Below is a list of the most recent resolutions passed by the delegates since Fall 2007.

Online Student Equity: Asynchronous Courses
Status

The SSCCC acknowledges the importance of expanding access to asynchronous course offerings, particularly in fields such as STEM, Business, and Law, where flexible learning formats can support students with diverse needs, including those balancing work, caregiving responsibilities, or living with disabilities.

While the SSCCC does not currently have the resources to directly lead this effort or coordinate with the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC) at a statewide level, we strongly encourage local student body associations to work collaboratively with their campus curriculum committees and academic senates to advocate for increased asynchronous course offerings.

We also support the principle of ensuring that faculty offer accessible office hours—in person and virtually—to accommodate a wide range of student needs. We are committed to continuing conversations with partners like the ASCCC to promote student-centered academic practices across the system.

Gender Inclusive Facilities

Supremacy Clauses
Status

Completed. The SSCCC does not have the authority to implement or amend campus-specific student government policies or governing documents. However, we recognize the serious concerns raised by the presence of supremacy clauses that may undermine the autonomy and voice of student body associations.

In alignment with our commitment to protecting student representation and shared governance, the SSCCC has elevated awareness of this issue through statewide discussions and leadership trainings. We encourage local student leaders to review their governing documents and advocate for the removal of clauses that restrict their independence or subject their authority to undue administrative control.

While we cannot mandate changes at the campus level, we will continue to support student-led efforts to uphold democratic governance structures and ensure that student voices remain central to institutional decision-making.

Sustainable Products from Auxiliary Organizations

Equity for the Formerly Incarcerated Student
Status

The Chancellor's Office in 2021 created the Rising Scholars Program (click to view). In addition, the Chancellor's Office Curriculum Committee - 5C - is currently updating and strengthening regulations in correspondence courses, which is the way courses are delivered.
