WHEREAS, The Student Senate for California Community Colleges in 2025 created several task forces with the RP Group, “a nonprofit, nonpartisan team made up of a dedicated Board of Directors and staff, working together with a shared and resolute goal: to increase the success of California community colleges and beyond”, on increasing college student leaders’ access to local Institutional Research and Professional Effectiveness (IRPE) offices, adding student-facing resources as a regular part of The RP Group’s research projects, and creating research opportunities specifically for CCC students;

WHEREAS, Gathering institutional data is crucial in developing insight into problems that students are facing on their campus, giving insight into problems that are unseen, and helps develop their talking points when discussing these issues with administrators, trustees, and Legislators;

WHEREAS, Many students across the community college system are locked away from accessibly accessing data collected from their colleges Institutional Research and Professional Effectiveness offices, leaving students in the dark of problems that may be taking place on campus, in the instances it is front facing it is also oftentimes difficult to digest; and

WHEREAS, California State University, Fresno Associated Students Inc. has a senator-at-large position for Research & Innovation to “serve as a liaison and represent the needs of Fresno State students in the areas of university innovation, including but not limited to: undergraduate and graduate research efforts, technology services, advancement, and special projects”; Now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges advocate for collaboration among local IRPE offices and local student body associations; and

RESOLVED, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges advocate for a toolkit to help students advocate for better access to their local IRPE offices.
